One of the best defenders of the 1950s, both in the Dynamo defense and in the Soviet Union national team. In addition to good athletic ability, he was distinguished by his positional competence and competent handling of duels.
His main role on the field was the position of central defender. Coaches valued him for his developed tactical sense and good tackling technique. In addition to his reliability in defense, he gave the team an additional advantage in attack with his connections.
After finishing his career, he focused on coaching, primarily in youth football. Many Dynamo players started under his leadership, and from 1992 until the end of his days he worked at the Lev Yashin Foundation.
