Sandro Schwarz: We lacked composure when finishing attacks

# Sandro Schwarz

Dynamo Head Coach Sandro Schwarz answered journalists' questions after the match against Akhmat (1:2).

— I would like to congratulate Akhmat. In the first half, we controlled the game, had a large percentage of ball possession before conceding a goal. In the second half, we created quite a lot of goalscoring chances, we scored, but could not bounce back. Somewhere we lacked composure, somewhere the decisive pass, somewhere accuracy in finishing. Today we suffered a painful defeat.

— Are two conceded goals an accident or a result of systemic mistakes?

— We had a large space between the lines which led to a free kick. In the episode with the second conceded goal, we had to play more tightly in our own penalty box and not let the Akhmat player shoot.

— During the break, you substituted Sergey Parshivlyuk and Nikola Moro. Were you dissatisfied with them, or it was a tactical turn?

— These were tactical substitutions. We needed to put a player on the right wing who would give an additional impulse to the attack, so we fielded Varela. Fomin dropped to the position of a defensive midfielder, and Zakharyan moved to the midfield, where he had to find free zones. Skopintsev played as a winger and had to overpass the opponent due to dribbling.

— Was there an emotional conversation during the break?

— During the break, we made little changes to our tactical formation. We paid attention to how to play in various situations. We also told that there should be no free space between the lines, and the players should stay compact on the pitch.

— How would you evaluate Denis Makarov’s play, who entered the starting line-up for the first time?

— I would not like to talk exclusively about Makarov, but I would like to talk about team actions. During the match, we lacked energy and determination, which would have been converted into goalscoring chances. In some situations, we lacked composure when finishing attacks.

— Fabián Balbuena moved to the attack in the end. Was it a situational decision, or you kept this move in mind in advance?

— The head coach always needs to have a large number of options for any case of a match. I can call a C plan Balbuena’s move to the position of a centre-forward. In the end, he just had a good opportunity to equalize with a header.

— Vladislav Karapuzov was named the best player of the match. Do you regret that you sent him on loan?

— It's football. It often happens that former players or players on loan perform well in matches against their former sides. Today was just such a case.

— You didn't use rotation enough in relation to the starting line-up. Maybe the team are a little tired of playing in this schedule?

— I wouldn't say that the team are tired. We had a full training week, and today we were in the same conditions as the opponent.
