A graduate of the Dynamo system. He didn't have a particularly bright game, but he was one of the most reliable defenders with excellent defensive skills.
He was quite tough and decisive in duels and was great at personal guarding. A true team player who did a lot of the dirty work. He was nicknamed "Scythe" for his toughness in the game. He played in tandem with another defender, Aleksandr Novikov, nicknamed "Autogen".
After finishing his career as a football player, he continued to work in the club system as a coach of children's and youth teams. Since the late 1990s, he has worked as a team manager in the club's structure.
