He spent almost his entire career at Dynamo Moscow. He started as a midfielder, but eventually was moved to the position of central defender.
He was good at duels and choosing a position due to his extensive experience of performing at various levels at a young age. He had excellent speed, dash and technique of receiving and handling the ball. He combined his strong shots with acrobatic elements.
After finishing his career at Tashkent Pakhtakor, he returned to the Dynamo system and until his last days was the president of the Dynamo Moscow Veterans football club named after Lev Yashin.
