On Sunday, the renowned midfielder of Moscow Dynamo, Alexander Minaev, turns 70 years old
Aleksandr Alekseevich was born in Zheleznodorozhny, near Moscow, and is a product of Spartak, where he spent four seasons on the first team. A sharp and hardy midfielder, he stood out for the breadth of his actions on the field. Thanks to his excellent physical abilities, he had time to develop attacks and work in the defensive zone.
The turning point for the talented footballer came in 1976, when he transferred to Dynamo and made his debut in the USSR national team. In one summer, he managed to become the winner of the European Youth Championship, the champion of the USSR, and the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Montreal, where he played all 5 matches
A year later, Minaev helped the blue-whites win the Cup of the country. He was a true leader of the team, led his partners and was not afraid to take the game upon himself. In total, during 9 years of playing for Dynamo, Minaev played 256 matches (more than 30 of them as captain) and scored 28 goals, and twice made it into the list of 33 best football players of the USSR.
After finishing his career in 1984, Aleksandr Alekseevich moved on to coaching and spent 10 years working with children's and youth teams of Dynamo sports school. Later he coached the Dynamo reserve team and several clubs near Moscow. In the last years of his life, he actively developed amateur and veteran football
