Saturday marks the 85th anniversary of the birth of the famous Dynamo Moscow striker Yuri Vshivtsev.

Yuri Mikhailovich was born on January 11, 1940 in Kirov, where he started playing football. The pupil of the local "Petrel" made his debut at the highest level in Kirov "Dynamo", and in 1962 moved to Dynamo Moscow.

The young striker's debut in the USSR Top League turned out to be perfect – coming on as a substitute in the June game against Torpedo Kutaisi, he scored the only goal in the match. He more than compensated for not the most outstanding physical data with phenomenal scoring flair and the ability to instantly navigate at someone else's goal. Most often, he scored after shooting and mounted passes from the edges, playing superbly with his head due to the choice of position and his jumping ability.
