On Monday, Alexander Uvarov, the former goalkeeper of Dynamo Moscow, turns 65.
Alexander Viktorovich was born on January 13, 1960 in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, where he started playing football in the local team "Znamya there". In 1981, he received an invitation to the main team of Dynamo Moscow, for which he made his debut on August 12 in a match against Zenit, replacing Nikolai Gontar.
In the 1980s - 1990s, he was part of the elite of Soviet goalkeepers, but he worked his way to the leading role of Dynamo goalkeeper for a long time. Thanks to his perseverance and patience, he became the main goalkeeper of the team, played 120 matches and left the gate intact in 47 of them. On the field, he always instilled confidence in his partners. His main qualities were the goalkeeping technique, excellent reaction and athleticism.
As part of the blue and white team, he won the USSR Cup in 1984, won the bronze medals of the 1990 season and in the same year entered the list of "33 best football players in the country." He played 11 matches for the USSR national team, two of them at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
After playing for Dynamo, he moved to Israel, where he became the national champion three times with Maccabi Tel Aviv, in whose academy he still works, coaching young goalkeepers.
