The right winger Denis Makarov, who became the co-author of the first goal against Rubin Kazan, told how Dynamo managed to win and how he played against the former teammates.
— Dynamo beat Rubin for only the fifth time in history. Did the team lack you to defeat this opponent?
— Most likely, yes (smiles).
— How did you play against your former teammates?
– It was nice to play against the guys, because I have been with them for a long time. I think that our team succeeded. Rubin are a good opponent. It turned out to be an interesting and spectacular match.
— What did you do to get the better of the Rubin players who know you very well?
— I tried to play a little smarter. They know that I have a strong left foot. So I tried to play more with my teammates, as it turned out in the episode with the first goal.
— Did Sandro Schwarz ask you any secrets about Rubin?
— No. He is a coach, so not any secrets are needed here.
— It seemed that the players of the Kazan side were too tough in tackles against you.
— No. In every game, the players try to be effective in tackles. You need to understand when you have time to get away from a tackle, and when you don't.
— The guys from Rubin said that there was no other option to stop you. You are able to run away from them.
— So I ran away a couple of times today. The opponent played well in defense. I can repeat that Rubin are a good team. We beat them thanks to our character and individual skills.
— Did you have time to talk to Leonid Slutsky after the match?
— We didn't have time to talk, it's a pity. I am grateful to Leonid Viktorovich. I think we will talk to him once again.
— What did the guys from Rubin tell you?
— They wished me good luck. We'll see again soon.
