Diego Laxalt joins Dynamo

Football clubs Dynamo and AC Milan have agreed on the transfer of left-back Diego Laxalt.

28-year-old Uruguayan player signed a three-year contract with a prolongation option for one more season.

Diego was born in Montevideo, graduated from the academy of local club Defensor Sporting and made his debut in the first team at the age of 19.

In 2013 he joined Inter Milan but spent most of time on loan at Bologna, Empoli and Genoa. In 2016 Diego signed full-term contract with Genoa. After great performance at 2018 World Cup in Russia Laxalt moved to AC Milan. In 2019 he was loaned to Torino.

In total, Laxalt played 170 matches in Serie A, scored 9 goals and made 12 assists. Last season he spent on loan at Celtic and won the Scottish Cup.

Diego is regularly called-up to the Uruguay national team. In 2013 he was in the squad of Uruguay U-20 team that finished third in the South American Youth Championship and reached final at FIFA U-20 World Cup. Laxalt made 24 appearances for the main national team.

— I'm thrilled to move to such a famous club that wants to develop and fight for the highest places, — Laxalt said. — It motivates me. Dynamo weren't the only team that contacted my representative, but none of the others showed such an interest in me and professional approach during negotiations as Dynamo.
