The second leg game of the Fonbet Russian Cup quarterfinal that was held at VTB Arena ended in a 1:1 draw.
In comparison with the first leg encounter Slavisa Jokanovic made three changes in the starting XI: Igor Leshchuk replaced Anton Shunin in goal, while Denis Makarov and Konstantin Tyukavin appeared in the attacking triangle together with Moumi Ngamaleu.
The White-Blues started well and could create three nice chances in a row. In the 5th minute Roberto Fernandez joined the attack, Arsen Zakharyan assisted on Tyukavin whose effort was blocked by the defender. Then Daniil Fomin came to the fore. Dynamo captain missed two good opportunities to beat Ivan Lomayev who was attentive and self-possessed.
Krylya responded with a dengerous free-kick. Igor Leshchuk jumped to the left corner and denied Rahmanovic's header brilliantly. The loss of concentration led to an eleven-meter shot in the 27th minute. Ngamaleu fouled on Benjamin Garre and Vladimir Pisarskiy converted the penalty despite Leshchuk's reaction who guessed the ball direction.
Having conceded, Dynamo players added in motion and could equalise before the break. The ball after Tyukavin's header went wide. Then Zakharyan fell on the pitch inside Samara penalty box, but the referee decided not to interfere. This situation made Arsen angry and he was close to put his name on the scoresheet by the half-time whistle. The number 47 intercepted the ball in the middle of the pitch and hit the far post with an accurate strike.
The second half started with a double substitution: Daniil Lesovoy and Luka Gagnidze came to improve the hosts' game. The White-Blues interplayed a lot but lacked the decisive pass. In its turn the Samara side was dangerous in rare counterattacks. However, Leshchuk kept the vigilance at goal.
The series of changes turned out to be successful for Slavisa Jokanovic's men. Yaroslav Gladyshev succeeded on rebound and fired into the net capitalising on a slight ricochet.
Dynamo needed one more goal to secure a penalty shootout and the Moscow team rushed forward. This left enough space for the visitors to counterattack but Leshchuk continued to shine. He won the duel over Vladislav Shitov running one-on-one. The last chance of the game came to the White-Blues in added time. After the corner Dynamo goalkeeper could become a hero. However, the defenders didn't let him shoot. As a result, the Samara side saved its two-game lead, won on aggregate (3:2) and advanced into the Cup RPL Path semifinals.
The Muscovites will continue their route in the Regions Path where they can face Zenit, Akron, Pari NN or Akhmat. The draw will be held on Thursday.
In the next match the Moscow side will face Krylya Sovetov again at VTB Arena on March 5.
