Dynamo head coach Marcel Licka answered journalists' questions after the Cup match with Spartak (1:4).
— What happened to your team in the first half hour of the match?
— I saw the difference between two teams in mood and desire: the opponent started as if it were a Champions League match, and we just played football. We lost all tackles, rebounds. There was no aggressiveness and runs into the final third. The first half hour was a disaster. But it helped me to draw certain conclusions: those who will play slowly and constantly pass the ball back – they will not come to the pitch.
— Perhaps the team kept in mind last results of Spartak, which could not win for 3 matches.
— No, it's just the mood of the players. Perhaps someone else is not ready for big pressure in a derby with a large number of spectators. Spartak looked very aggressive, ran forward quickly and won all the duels. The way we played is unacceptable in matches against Premier League teams.
— You replaced Aleksandr Kutitsky already in the first half. Did you have time to talk to him?
— I also replaced Gladyshev, and I could have substituted eight footballers. When one player drops, as it were in the match against Rubin, then you can correct something, when two players drop, it's already very difficult, and today we had 7-8 of them.
— Are you satisfied with the team's performance in the second half?
— At half-time, I said that we needed to score the first goal as soon as possible, and then try to score the second one. If we managed to do it, we could strive for the third and so on. If you play nicely through a short pass by 0:4, it means nothing, because it's too late. I am very disappointed with today's game.
— What can you say about the debut of Luis Chavez and Jorge Carrascal?
— I am glad that they were able to spend 30 minutes on the pitch. Luis and Jorge didn't play for a long time and didn't train with us, but it's good that they endured this half hour. Their skills were visible by the way they tried to interplay with each other, with Luka and Moumi.
— Fabian Balbuena was not in the squad today. When will he come back?
— Fabian left for personal reasons: one bad thing happened, which he found out about before the game in Kazan. He will return after the international break.
— How sad is it for you to lose players during the season? First Arsen Zakharyan left for Spain, now Saba Sazonov is flying to Italy.
— I take it normally. Of course, I would like Saba to play today, because I only found out about his departure in the morning during the warm-up. Sazonov came and said he was flying to Italy. And we had to quickly look for some new option. I wish that everything went well for him, that he grew as a football player and played at a good level. Serie A is a great tournament. Unfortunately, I have fewer defenders, but that's life. Everything is fine.
