Dynamo head coach Marcel Licka answered journalists' questions after the win over Orenburg (2:0).
— Perhaps the today's first half was our best performance. Although we were not able to score, but there were many chances and the quality of football was also very good. At the beginning of the second half, the opponent forgave us and Igor helped a lot. If Orenburg had scored, they are too strong in quick counterattacks, then we would have faced problems.
We need to be fully focused from the first to the last minute. We shouldn't relax even for 10 minutes. This is a too big gift to our opponent. I am very happy for Tyuka, who scored in the fourth game. Bessmertnyi played well and took part in the first goal attack. Before the match, I told the team that I wanted to keep the clean sheet today. And it turned out that way.
— Did the first half seem to be the kind of play you are aiming for or Dynamo can play even better?
— I would like to play the entire match like we did in today's first half. We have a lot of talents, but I want the team to show character as well. If, for example, Bitello needs to run as a wingback, then he will do it and will help the team. I want to see the unity of the whole team and not a team as a group of individuals. We have to win and lose together. Anyone can score. Only the win of the team is important. We need to get to a stable level of play.
— What conclusions did you draw after the Sochi game?
— In the dressing room in Sochi, I said a couple of words that should stay there. You can play any tactics, try different schemes, but if the players lack psychological strength, it will always be a problem. All week I have been looking for ways to help my players, to convey to them that there is no need to be afraid on the pitch. After all, if you are afraid of making a mistake, then you will make it most likely. And today, when we were leading by 2:0 and Tyuka didn't use a nice chance, I started to worry a little. I am very glad that the score has remained unchanged.
— Do you agree that the referee made a mistake by not showing a red card for a foul on Jorge Carrascal?
— At first I thought that the referee should automatically show a red card. But for that, he had to whistle right away. The reserve referee explained to me that since the game continued, the referee had the right to show only a delayed yellow card.
— Tell us about today's changes in detail.
— When the score became 2:0, I decided to field Carrascal and Makarov, because I saw that Gladyshev was tired, and Moumi was still experiencing pain. Therefore, we agreed with him that if the pain grew, we would substitute him. And during the break, Nicolas asked to spend another 15 minutes on the pitch. Therefore, it was logical to release fast Makarov and Carrascal, who could run away from the tired defenders.
— This time, Dynamo players have not been called up to the Russian national team. Are you happy about it?
— I have already calculated that we would have 14 players in training now, not 8-9, as before. So it's good, it will add more fun in training. Fomin has not fully healed his ankle yet, so he will stay with us. Tyuka has not been called up, Bessmertnyi and Chupayov will go to the U-21 team. Moumi and Smolov will work individually next week and prepare for the derby against CSKA.
— You are the only one foreign coach who has learned Russian. Did you manage to learn it quickly?
— When I came to Dinamo Brest, I didn't speak Russian, but my knowledge of Polish helped me. I love talking to football players, joking in the dressing room, so I started speaking the language very quickly. I went to the cinema, watched TV, read the signs in the streets, listened to people's communication. I believe that if a person works here and earns money, then he should learn the culture, learn the language, at some level at least. I have been here for five years, if we take the period of work in Belarus, so I had more time than other foreign coaches. But I still can't understand capital letters either, but there are no problems with printed ones.
