Team status
Dynamo team successfully flew to Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday, where they were able to inflict the largest defeat in the Russian history of the teams' confrontation with Rubin (4:0). Konstantin Tyukavin scored his first goal from the penalty spot for Dynamo, Arthur scored for the first time in the RPL, and Fabian Balbuena and Yaroslav Gladyshev completed the defeat of the opponent in the second half.
Denis Makarov played his hundredth match as part of Dynamo, and Luis Chavez, who recovered from injury, played for the first time in two months. Another joyful event was the inclusion in the application of Vyacheslav Grulev, who had not played since July due to a fracture. It is quite possible that we will see him on the field this Thursday.
But those who will definitely not play in Samara are Alexander Kutitskiy, who went through the yellow cards, as well as Eli Dasa, Milan Majstorovic and Diego Laxalt, who continue to recover.
However, this meeting will no longer have tournament significance for Dynamo. After the defeat of Dynamo Makhachkala by Spartak, our team took second place in Group A ahead of schedule and will now face off against Lokomotiv in the quarterfinals.
About the opponent
Nothing will be solved for the Samaritans either. In the first five rounds they suffered four defeats, and three major ones (including 1:5 from the blue and white), and only in the last game they were able to defeat Makhachkala on penalties. At the same time, they managed to lose the groundwork of three goals, obtained in the first half.
In that match, Ulvi Babayev, rented by the Samaritans from Dynamo, scored a double. So it will be interesting to see how the 20-year-old striker will face his hometown team, for the main squad of which he played one match at the end of the 2022/23 season.
In the Russian championship, Igor Osinkin's team is not doing well either. In the autumn, the Samaritans have so far won only one victory over Rubin, and in the last round they again missed a solid advantage, allowing Orenburg to win back from 0:2.
Sergey Pesyakov, Glenn Bale, Maxim Vitiugov and Amar Rakhmanovich are currently on the injured list of the Wings.
History of meetings
Within the framework of the Russian Cup, the teams have met nine times, and so far there is complete balance: 3 wins for each side and 3 more draws. The only penalty shootout ended in favor of Dynamo in 2006 (3:1).
The top scorers of the confrontation are Yaroslav Gladyshev, Viktor Okishor and Vladimir Pisarsky with 2 goals.
The judging panel
The meeting will be served by Jan Bobrovsky, who will be assisted by linesmen Rashid Abusuyev and Dmitry Malikov. Roman Safyan and Pavel Kukuyan will be responsible for the video Referee Assistance System (VAR).
The last time a 35-year-old referee from St. Petersburg judged a Dynamo meeting was two years ago, when our team defeated Khimki at home with a score of 6:1.
