On Monday, Roman Berezovsky, the former goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach of the blue-whites, turns 50!
Roman Anatolyevich was born in Yerevan, where his parents worked, and is a graduate of the local "Koshkagorts". He began his career in Armenian clubs, and in 1993 he moved to St. Petersburg, where he won the Russian Cup with Zenit.
In the 2001 season, he played for Torpedo Moscow, after which he ended up at Dynamo as an experienced goalkeeper of the Armenian national team. Over the next 4 seasons, which he spent as the first number of the blue-whites, he gained the love of fans. Berezovsky competently led the defense, instilling confidence in the defenders, was distinguished by reaction and play on the line.
At that time, he was the main specialist in the league for taking penalties and still shares second place in this indicator in the Russian championships with 14 saved penalty kicks
Roman Anatolyevich later helped Khimki to reach the Premier League for the first time, and in 2012 he returned to Dynamo, where he ended his career three seasons later. In total, he played 114 matches for the blue-whites, keeping 37 clean sheets. He is a member of Lev Yashin Club and ranks 8th in terms of the number of clean sheets in the Russian championships.
After finishing his playing career, Berezovsky joined the coaching staff of the main team of the blue-white, also working with the Dynamo youth team. Since 2020, he has been working for the Armenian national team, for which he played 94 matches and is among the top 3 players with the most appearances.
