Dynamo centre-back Saba Sazonov, who had joined the team on Monday, spoke about his participation in U-21 European Championship and his first impressions of the new head coach.
— Tell us about your performance in the European Championship.
— The atmosphere at Euro was excellent. For the first time in my life I participated in such a tournament. I especially remembered the match against Portugal. It was my debut for the team in an official game, where I even scored a goal. It was a special moment. We prepared seriously for the tournament. All the footballers showed great desire and Georgia played very well.
— What was your reaction of getting into the list of best players of the tournament?
— Of course, it was very cool to get into the list of best players of two rounds first, and then the whole tournament. I think this is a good mark of the work I have been doing throughout the season. And this is not the limit.
— Did you have time to rest after Euro?
— We had a little rest. Of course, I would like to have a longer vacation, but I understand that the start of the Premier League is coming soon. Luka (Gagnidze) and I have returned from the European Championship and we are ready to rock at Dynamo.
— What have you heard about the training process under the guidance of the new coach?
— I've heard a lot about the training process, because the guys told me everything. They said that training was difficult. Today we met with the coach for the first time. By this moment we kept in touch in the messenger. He made a pleasant impression, now we will get to know each other better during the training sessions.
— Did you follow the BetBoom Brother's Cup?
— I was following, but I only managed to watch the second game when I arrived in Moscow. It was interesting and unusual. I saw that there were challenges, there were many young players who had got a chance to prove themselves. There was very good, brother's atmosphere, which confirmed excellent relations between Dynamo and CSKA once again.
— What can you say about Fabian Balbuena's return to Dynamo?
— We have known Fabian since my first season at Dynamo. He is an experienced central defender from Paraguay. Any competition is good, so we will compete with Fabi and other defenders, and the coach will determine the starting eleven.
