Sandro Schwarz: «We have potential and resources for further development»

Dynamo head coach Sandro Schwarz answered questions after the goalless draw with Lokomotiv.

— In the locker room I thanked the guys for the dedication they showed. I am happy with their passion. We faced a very serious opponent, who suffered their first defeat last week [after a long winning run]. We played well as a team today. We created enough chances in the first half, but we couldn't convert them into goals.

We were good at pressing and counter-pressing, we performed well on wings, where we created a lot of chances. In the second half, we had the 10-man situation, and I would like to give the credit to my team for their game. We deserved more. In general, the final score didn’t satisfy us.

— Why didn't Dynamo players use long-range shots with this weather?

— We had to prepare opportunities for long-range shots. In general, we’ve played well against the formation that Lokomotiv built in the midfield.

— Today Dynamo lost chances to qualify for European cups. Is it a failure, given how the team started this year?

— We are disappointed with today's result. We failed to qualify for European cups, and there is an explanation. The team is quite young. The players can't always show stable game. But we have the potential and resources for further development. Everything depends on us. I am happy with the way our principles and ideas are followed in matches. We have to move forward in this direction. We want to finish the season with a win over CSKA Moscow and earn 50 points. That’s our goal.

— The team started very well but earned only five points in the last five matches. How can you explain this?

— If we talk about the previous two matches against Khimki and Rubin, we created a lot of chances there. But we lacked efficiency in the final phases. This is something we have to work on. But I can't say I'm not happy with the game quality.

— What can you say about the referee’s work?

— I can't say anything bad about the referee's work today. In general, I think that there are too many matches in the league when referees don’t allow to play tough. In this case there is no passion, which is an integral part of football. There is no need to show a yellow card after every foul. Too often teams finish matches with 10 men.
