As part of the club's development strategy, Dynamo Moscow have opened a new direction in their football community – women's football. A multi-level hierarchy of professional training of female football players is being created inside the Dynamo Academy. Based on the support of the main shareholder – VTB Bank it will include several teams of different ages, a youth team and a senior women's team, which will become an integral part of FC Dynamo Moscow.

Sergey Lavrentiev was appointed as the head coach of the U-21 team. His coaching staff includes well-known specialists: goalkeeping coach Vitaly Shadrin who also works at the Russian national team and fitness coach Yulia Gordeyeva.

Sergey Lavrentiev is a prospect of the Dynamo Sports School (Lev Yashin Dynamo Academy nowadays). He played as a professional footballer for Saturn Ramenskoye, Arsenal Tula, Einheit Wernigerode from Germany, Torpedo-ZIL Moscow. He has a UEFA category A coaching license and can boast of extensive experience in men's and women's football.

He headed the women's national team of Russia, FC Chertanovo Femení and PFC CSKA Femení. The national team under his stewardship played in the final stage of the UEFA Women's Championship. At the club level, his sides became silver (twice) and bronze medalists of the Russian Women’s Championship. They also played in the Russian Cup final and reached twice the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16.
