Slavisa Jokanovic: We tested young players and received important information

— In the first 45 minutes, Rostov were stronger, faster and created a lot of problems for us. In the second half, we started to play better, created more chances, struggled better, but the opponent played well in defense. Unfortunately, our efforts were not enough to save the game.

— Is the second conceded goal a loss of concentration, an individual mistake or anything else?

— We conceded after the set-piece again. At this moment there was a loss of concentration. But I always try to look for some positive aspects. Today, three footballers made their debut in the main team and they played at this level in front of more than 20 thousand spectators for the first time.

— Is it possible to say that the young players were confused on the pitch today?

— It doesn't often happen that three young players make their debut in one game at once. It was not easy for them to play against such a skilled team. Of course, they can play better, but the main thing is that we saw them in action and received important information that will help us develop them further. If we had the next game not on Saturday, but on Monday, for example, we would have chosen another squad. But today we decided to give playing time to these guys.

— Were you impressed by Igor Leshchuk's performance today?

— We have very highly professional and strong goalkeepers. Anton Shunin is playing in the championship, and we decided to field Igor in the Cup. Today, especially in the first half, he had a lot of work, and he was good in many episodes. I know that he is an experienced and strong goalkeeper.

— What can you say about the new format of the Russian Cup?

— I have not met such a system before, but the formula of the tournament is not my competence. We have five group stage matches remaining, in which we can take 15 points and promote into the spring part of the Cup. Our goal is to reach the final again and win the trophy.

— After the RPL match, you complimented the play of Rostov. Did today's match strengthen your positive impression of this team?

— They play very well. The team structure is clearly visible. They scored again from the set-piece. This is a high-quality team. I think Rostov will be at the top of the RPL standings this season.
