Slavisa Jokanovic: We gave the opponent two chances, after which it was difficult to come from behind | News of FC Dynamo Moscow

Dynamo head coach Slavisa Jokanovic answered journalists' questions after the home defeat against Sochi (0:2).

— We are disappointed to have such a result. We didn't have enough speed today. The team created chances, but didn't succeed in finishing. I can't say that Sochi played much better than us. Of course, they were organized in defense and tried to play on counterattacks. But we gave them two great chances, after which it was difficult to come from behind.

— Sochi suffered two big defeats in a row. Did this fact affect Dynamo motivation?

— No, we've watched them beat CSKA before. It's not about Sochi, it's about us. We analyzed all the matches of Sochi, but they remained in the past. Today we made mistakes in important episodes. In addition, we lacked skills in finishing our sharp attacks. I don't think we were too relaxed. But I had a feeling that we didn't believe in success today and eventually lost.

— What conclusions can you draw from this defeat? Don't you think you made a mistake with the starting line-up?

— It was the best line-up we could field. We tried to benefit from the man advantage and rebuilt the game in the midfield. We will analyze this match and continue our work. I can say that with such a game, such desire and such speed, we may face big troubles on Tuesday night. In theory, we could have easily won this match, having one more player and earning a penalty. But today we didn't have enough desire to win, and paid a high price for it.

— You said several times that the problem is in your team. There have already been few matches in which Dynamo did not show the autumn game. What's going on with the team? Maybe it's a matter of poor preparation at training camps or the absence of fans in the stands?

— This is a combination of many factors. Of course, we need more fans in the stands. We have a lot of injured players, but this happens during the season. At the same time, we didn't have so many problems in the matches with Zenit and Ural, so I can't say that out today's performance is linked with the work at training camps. Today we didn't have enough passion and speed, we played quite slowly. The team conceded the same goal as it happened in the match against Rostov. We explained that Drkusic is the most dangerous player on set-pieces, and he scored. So I don't think it's about our work during the pre-season.

— Luka Gagnidze is an excellent dribbler, but sometimes he beats the opponent once again instead of making a timely pass. Do you agree with it? How are you going to work on it?

— First of all, Gagnidze is 20 years old, Sazonov is 21, Tyukavin is 20, Gladyshev is 19. These are players who are prone to the mistakes of youth, and they need to be supported. Luka is a very talented footballer who has a lot of room for growth. He controls the ball perfectly, sees the pitch well. He has a good dribble, but he can also make a clever pass. Of course, in some situations he can make fewer touches and part with the ball faster.

In tough games I expect more support from experienced players like Fomin or Dasa. Young footballers need support and trust from our side. I expect them to work hard and progress. Luka is potentially a very strong player, and we will work to develop his qualities.

— Saba Sazonov starts attacks with long balls regularly. Is this his own initiative, or you are asking him about it?

— I wouldn't say he does it too often. It all depends on the concrete situation on the pitch.

— Are you satisfied with the pitch quality? Does it differ from the March one?

— We can't complain about the pitch. His quality was perfect, the weather was great, so it didn't influence both teams' actions in any way.
