Smolov's centenary goal helps Dynamo to beat Lokomotiv

The encounter of the Mir Russian Premier League fourteenth round that was held at RZD Arena ended in a 3:1 win for the White-Blues.

Slavisa Jokanovic made four changes in comparison with the Cup fixture against Rostov. Anton Shunin returned to the starting eleven. The left wing was taken by Diego Laxalt and Nicolas Ngamaleu, while Fedor Smolov appeared as unique centre-forward. For this encounter the Dynamo team got special black kit dedicated to Lev Yashin's anniversary.

The beginning of the match turned out to be shocking for Slavisa Jokanovic's men. Thirty seconds after the kick-off the hosts opened the score. Dmitry Zhivoglyadov crossed to the far post where François Kamano headed home.

Dynamo could equalise soon. Roberto Fernandez hit the target with the header from the corner kick. However, Guilherme palmed the ball away.

The White-Blues controlled the ball much time but they could create dangerous chances only from set-pieces. The pressure helped Dynamo to level the game. Anton Miranchuk played handball in the penalty area and Kukuyan pointed to the eleven-meter spot. Smolov executed the penalty scoring his centenary goal at RPL!

The visitors continued to dominate and scored the second goal. Zakharyan succeeded on rebound and sent the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately, the goal has been canceled because of offside.

After the interval the White-Blues gained the necessary lead. Firstly, Zakharyan missed a nice chance firing wide assisted by Smolov. Then, the talented youngster put Dynamo ahead from the free-kick. The ball ricocheted off the wall and Guilherme was helpless.

In remaining time Lokomotiv could disturb Shunin only once with Miranchuk's header. Our goalkeeper jumped high and caught the ball. Two minutes before the final whistle the White-Blues restored two-goal lead. Konstantin Tyukavin was fouled inside the penalty box and Daniil Fomin converted his 17th penalty in a row repeating Georgi Peev's record.

Dynamo picked up 23 points and climbed to sixth spot in the standings. In the RPL next round the White-Blues will face Khimki at VTB Arena on October 29.
