Dynamo attacking midfielder Jorge Carrascal shared his emotions of the first game of 2024 at VTB Arena (2:1) and dedicated his Man of the match award to the entire team.
— How would you rate the first official match of the year?
— It was a tough game against a very strong opponent, and it was a derby too. Our team did an excellent job. Everyone tried very hard and we stayed pleased with the win.
— Your big desire to lead the team and engage in the fight in every episode was evident. Was there a special mindset for the match?
— Of course, it was a derby against a very good team that always fights to the end. We worked really well during the winter training camps, which was evident in today's encounter. As the coach asked us, we played very aggressively throughout the match, fighting for every ball.
— The team led the game confidently for 80 minutes, but the ending turned out to be nervous again. Did you run out of strength for it?
— After all, it was the first official game of the year. Of course, there are always aspects that can be improved. We always try our best until the final minutes. Perhaps, by the end, we lacked concentration, and we slowed down a bit. But let's not forget that Lokomotiv have strong players. This is something we need to improve on.
— You were deservedly named the Man of the match. Who would you dedicate this award to?
— I think that this award is for our entire team. It wasn't just me who stood out – everyone did an excellent job and deserved to receive it. But, unfortunately, there is only one award.
